Oryukai

2025 France Seminar

On June 7th and 8th, our online dojo had the pleasure of hosting the very first Uechi-Ryu Oryukai gathering!

This event was co-organized with the Shubukan Dojo in Toulouse, where our sensei, Lionel Reynaud, teaches every week.

Intense Days of Okinawan Karate

These two days were especially intense and enriching! We took the opportunity to review and strengthen the foundations of our Okinawan Karate through Hojo Undo and the Kyu Katas.

We also dedicated time to working on Kote Kitae and Ashi Kitae, drawing on the precepts of the Old Way.

Solid and Fluid Karate: Duality at the Heart of the Teaching

Lionel made it a point to emphasize the duality of our Karate, often referred to as Solid and Fluid Karate.

He had us work deeply on various stances, with a clear objective: learning to generate our techniques from the ground up, using the entire body.

Kyu & Dan Kumite

Getting together was a fantastic opportunity for our online students! They were finally able to train with a partner and explore the various kumite of our style (Dan and Kyu Kumite).

After many hours spent refining their techniques, we were able to test them in real-life scenarios. We were thrilled to see that every aspect of our online learning was perfectly applicable and functional!

Introduction to Para-Karate: A Lesson in Adaptation

Drawing on his extensive experience as a para-cycling coach, Lionel invited a practitioner with a disability from Shubukan to join the seminar. It was an enriching discovery for all of us: we observed how our Sensei adapted the techniques and katas to allow people with disabilities to discover and practice Karate through our approach.

Para-Karate: Uechi-Ryu Karate for Everyone

It was a wonderful moment of fraternity and sharing, where Antoine’s advice was invaluable! It helped us improve our own stability and body structure.
Truly fascinating!

Rank Examinations: Shodan and Kyu Levels

During these intensive days, some of us were tested (from beginner to black belt level), and Yohann obtained his Shodan (1st Dan black belt).

A Big Thank You to Lionel!

A huge thank you to Lionel for this perfectly organized event! We’re already looking forward to seeing each other again very soon!
