Winterfest 2025 – Sharing Uechi-Ryu and Olympic Coaching Insights
On March 7–8, the annual Uechi-Ryu Winterfest will take place in the United States, organized by George Mattson, widely regarded as the father of Uechi-Ryu Karate in America.
This exceptional event brings together many masters and instructors for over 30 workshops and presentations.
Honored to Participate as a Guest Instructor
At the kind invitation of Mattson Sensei, I am honored to participate in this year’s Winterfest to share my experience and research as an Olympic coach.

The Body’s Physiological Response to Uechi-Ryu Karate
“Karate is not just a physical discipline—it is a holistic practice that deeply engages both body and mind.”
In my workshop, we will dive into the physiological mechanisms that support the demanding practice of Uechi-Ryu. Together, we’ll explore the connections between traditional training methods, natural biomechanics, and adaptive performance.
We’ll examine how Uechi-Ryu techniques align with the body’s natural structure to generate power, resilience, and fluid motion—an approach often referred to as “The Old Way.”
What You’ll Gain
Participants will develop a deeper understanding of how Uechi-Ryu movements are enhanced through body awareness and biomechanical efficiency, and how the body naturally adapts to optimize performance—bridging tradition and science.
Let’s Connect at Winterfest
If you’re attending Winterfest, I would be delighted to meet you and share this experience, along with several of my students who will also be participating.
